Fundraising & Communications Coordinator

Job Hours: 35 hours per week (may include occasional evenings and weekends during event seasons)

Responsible to: Head of Income Generation

Works closely with: Bid Writer and Corporate Relationship Manager.

Location: Halifax – with travel across Calderdale and West Yorkshire

Salary: Dependent on experience

Happy Days supports and empowers people who are homeless or in crisis to live independent and purposeful lives. We operate innovative, trauma-informed services designed to address homelessness, addiction, poverty, and health inequality across Calderdale.

As we grow our services and progress our Building Transformation Projects, strong fundraising and communications are essential to sustaining and expanding our impact.

Role Purpose

The Fundraising & Communications Coordinator provides essential operational, creative and administrative support to the Income Generation team.

This role is central to ensuring:

  • Supporters feel valued and connected
  • Fundraising activity runs smoothly and professionally
  • Communications are consistent, engaging and reflective of our impact
  • Our Building Transformation Project remains visible across Calderdale

The postholder will act as the organisational backbone for donor stewardship, community engagement and marketing coordination, strengthening systems, improving consistency and helping modernise our public presence.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Stewardship & Income Administration

  • Lead on timely, warm and personalised acknowledgements of all donations, partnerships and community fundraising activity.
  • Maintain and develop accurate records on the CRM system, ensuring GDPR compliance and maximising Gift Aid.
  • Act as the first point of contact for local supporters, including schools, businesses and community groups wishing to fundraise.
  • Coordinate fundraising packs, materials and follow-up communications.
  • Support income tracking and reporting for the Head of Income Generation.

Communications & Digital Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with frontline teams to gather stories, photographs and impact data (ensuring dignity and safeguarding standards are upheld).
  • Translate service impact into engaging content for social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Create branded graphics and materials using Canva.
  • Coordinate production of regular supporter e-newsletters.
  • Support updates to fundraising platforms and website content.

Events & Community Representation

  • Represent Happy Days at local galas, fairs, festivals and community events.
  • Coordinate logistics such as guest lists, materials and supporter sign-up processes.
  • Capture event content for digital promotion and post-event follow-up.
  • Support post-event stewardship to ensure supporters remain engaged.

Capital Appeal & Marketing Support

  • Assist with research and profiling of potential local business supporters and major donors.
  • Help prepare briefing materials and presentation packs.
  • Coordinate design and distribution of physical fundraising materials across Calderdale and West Yorkshire.
  • Support marketing activity linked to appeals and campaigns.

Team Contribution

  • Provide reliable administrative and coordination support to the Head of Income Generation, Bid Writer and Corporate Relationship Manager.
  • Strengthen internal communication between fundraising and frontline services.
  • Contribute positively to team culture and collaborative working.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Warm, confident and professional communication style.
  • Good written English with the ability to adapt tone appropriately.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Confidence using social media platforms.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and develop skills.
  • Ability to work independently while being part of a team.
  • Commitment to the mission of supporting people experiencing homelessness and crisis.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.

Desirable

  • Experience using a CRM system.
  • Experience using Canva or similar design software.
  • Basic photography or video editing skills.
  • Previous experience in an administrative, customer-facing or community role.
