Happy Days’ role in Cost of Living Crisis recognised by visit from Mayor of West Yorkshire

We were pleased to welcome Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin recently in recognition of the vital role our charity plays in supporting local people to meet the challenges of the Cost of Living Crisis.

Mayor Brabin, Cllr Sarah Courtney, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Towns, Tourism and Voluntary Sector, visited The Gathering Place to learn more about the work we do and the financial pressures facing us and those we support.

Happy Days UK is one of the charities in West Yorkshire that will benefit from the new round of support from the Mayor’s Cost of Living Emergency Fund. We have also recently received over £7,000 of funding seized from criminals, through Mayor Brabin’s Safer Communities Fund.

Mayor Brabin acknowledged during her visit that Happy Days is one of the key organisations working Calderdale Council and partners on cost of living support and anti-poverty work in Calderdale.

This visit gave the whole team a boost by recognising the hard work and dedication of all our staff and volunteers and the crucial role played by those who support us through funding and strategic partnerships.
